Russian attacks on Ukrainian ports pose threat to exports and global market, — Agrarian Council

Experts note that strengthening air defense in Ukrainian ports is of strategic importance in 2026 for the work of the agricultural sector.
This was stated by the Deputy Head of the All Ukrainian Agrarian Council Denys Marchuk on the air of “United News”.
According to him, the current season demonstrates quite positive results in the production of grain and oilseed crops, which creates the potential for the formation of new export batches.
At the same time, the key challenge today is the possibility of exports due to the constant shelling of the ports of Great Odesa and infrastructure on the Danube. Attacks on port infrastructure are a threat not only to the Ukrainian economy, but also to the global market.
“Ukrainian agricultural products play an important role in containing world food prices, and any disruptions to exports are quickly felt by the world. We have already seen in 2022 that due to the impossibility of Ukrainian exports, food prices in the world have increased by more than 15%. That is why the efforts of the Ukrainian government to involve international partners in strengthening air defense systems to protect ports are of strategic importance for the work of the agricultural sector in 2026,” said Deputy Chairman of the Council Denis Marchuk.
In turn, Reuters , citing the Agrarian Council, writes that this month some wheat exporters have already failed to fulfill contracts for the supply of goods in December.
As of December 22, only 375 thousand tons of wheat were exported out of 1 million tons stipulated by the contract for delivery throughout the month. As for corn, out of 2 million tons stipulated by the contract, 1.5 million tons were shipped. As for sunflower oil, out of 410 thousand tons stipulated by the contract, 275 thousand tons were shipped.
