In January, Russia exported 12.7 million tons of crude oil from Baltic Sea ports

The number of tanker trips from the ports of the Baltic Sea with Russian crude oil in January 2026 increased to 106.

This was reported by the head of the project of the Institute for Black Sea Strategic Studies, Andriy Klimenko.

Thus, according to the results of the monitoring group, in January 2026, the Russian Federation set another absolute record for sea exports of crude oil from the ports of the Baltic Sea – 12.7 million tons. The previous record was recorded in October 2025 – 11.8 million tons.

Of these, 47.7% of the volumes were transported by tankers under sanctions of the EU, the USA, the UK and Canada.

The number of crude oil tanker trips in January 2026 was 106, while in October last year there were 99 tankers, in November – 87, in December – 88 tankers.

The monthly volume figures from the previous October 2025 record look like this:

• October 2025 – 11,886,005 tons

• November 2025 – 9,988,078 tons

• December 2025 – 10,027,240 tons

• January 2026 – 12,739,831 tons.

“This indicates that the effect of the scare from Trump’s sanctions on Rosneft and Lukoil was noticeable in November 2025, when they came into effect. In December 2025, buyers of Russian oil understood everything and started to catch up. And in January 2026 you see that the scare is over,” Andriy Klymenko emphasized.
