US warns Ukraine over attacks on Russian port of Novorossiysk

Ukraine has received an official warning from the United States after Ukrainian drones attacked the port in Novorossiysk.
This was stated by the Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States, Olga Stefanishyna, at a briefing on February 24 in Washington, CNN reports.
According to her, the US State Department complained that the Ukrainian military had damaged the infrastructure of the oil pipeline that transports American, Kazakh and Russian oil from Kazakhstan to a port in the Black Sea through the territory of the Russian Federation.
“This was due to the fact that American economic interests there were affected. We took note of this,” Olga Stefanishyna noted.
At the same time, the diplomat emphasized that the United States did not suggest that Kyiv generally refrain from attacks on Russian military and energy infrastructure.
In particular, the letter from the State Department stated that the United States currently does not have the same economic interests in Ukraine as in Kazakhstan.
The Ukrainian ambassador to the US also called on American lawmakers to pass a law to tighten sanctions against the Russian Federation.
Recall that the CPC pipeline system is one of the largest investment projects in the energy sector of Russia. The length of the Tengiz-Novorossiysk pipeline is 1,511 km. This route transports a significant part of raw materials from Russian fields, as well as more than two-thirds of all Kazakhstan’s export oil. Oil is shipped to the CPC via remote berths 5 km from the coastline.
