The General Staff confirmed the damage to the Primorsk oil port

Ukraine has struck key Russian oil facilities that provide oil exports and fuel supplies for the army.

On the night of March 23, the Ukrainian Defense Forces attacked important elements of Russia’s oil and gas infrastructure. This was reported by the press service of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In particular, these are the Transneft-Port Primorsk oil terminal in the Leningrad region and the Bashneft-Ufaneftekhim refinery in Ufa.

According to preliminary data, a tank farm and oil loading infrastructure were hit in Primorsk. A fire was recorded on the territory of the facility.

As a reminder, the Transneft-Port Primorsk terminal is one of the key export hubs for Russian oil – about 60 million tons of raw materials pass through it annually. Russia uses the income from these exports to finance the war against Ukraine.

The Bashneft-Ufaneftekhim oil refinery in Bashkortostan (1,400 km from the Ukrainian border) was also hit. A fire has been confirmed at the facility. The plant has a primary oil refining capacity of 6-8 million tons per year and is an important fuel supply link for the Russian armed forces.

As previously reported by USM, on March 13, Ukrainian drones hit two tankers in the port of Primorsk. This attack led to the first suspension of oil shipments at the terminal.
