Ukraine, Turkey and Syria discuss logistical routes bypassing the Strait of Hormuz

Ukraine, Syria and Turkey have launched a trilateral cooperation format, within which they discuss issues of logistical routes.

This was stated by the spokesman for the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, Heorhiy Tykhy, LIGA reports.

According to him, during the visit of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to Syria, trilateral negotiations were held with the participation of Turkey on new supply chains.

Tykhy noted that due to the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz and the associated risks, the countries of the Middle East and the Persian Gulf began to form new logistical routes. Ukraine joined the relevant negotiations together with Syria and Turkey.

Syria, according to the spokesman for the Foreign Ministry, plays an important role in these negotiations, as it geographically connects Turkey with the countries of the Middle East.

Heorhiy Tykhy emphasized that the restructuring of logistical chains in the region can last for decades and involves significant investments. Ukraine is already participating in these processes at an early stage and expects to receive economic benefits in the future.

“This is all very serious. This is the future of restructuring logistics chains in this region for decades and tens of billions of dollars. And Ukraine will take a direct part in this, one might say, is at the origins,” he said.
