US lifts sanctions on two Russian dry cargo ships

The US Treasury Department has removed two Russian dry cargo ships from its sanctions list, the “Gennady Yegorov” and the “Vyacheslav Arshinov”.

This is stated in an update of the sanctions lists on the US Treasury website.

Both ships are multipurpose dry cargo ships and were associated with the State Transport Leasing Company of Russia. The US Treasury Department did not specify the reason for the removal of the ships from the sanctions list.

In addition to the ships, seven Russian citizens were also removed from the list of special categories of citizens and prohibited persons. The US also lifted restrictions on two Turkish companies. Among them is the elevator manufacturer IDA Asansor, which was previously associated with circumventing sanctions and supplying goods to the Russian defense industry.

Vessels linked to Russian state entities and leasing companies have previously been subject to US sanctions as part of restrictions on Russia’s transport, financial and defence sectors following the start of a full-scale war against Ukraine. The US had previously temporarily lifted sanctions on Iranian oil.
