Ukraine could lose almost $900 million in foreign exchange earnings each month due to attacks on ports

Agricultural market participants suggest that Russia may intensify attacks on the ports of Great Odesa during the harvest.
This assessment was given by Deputy Minister of Economy Taras Vysotskyi, writes LIGA.
According to him, due to attacks on the ports, Ukraine can export about 4 million tons of grain per month instead of the potential 6 million tons. At current world prices for wheat, this means a loss of about $900 million in foreign exchange earnings every month.
Seaports remain a key channel for Ukrainian agricultural exports. More than 90% of agricultural products that Ukraine supplies to foreign markets pass through them.
Business and government representatives suggest that in July-August, Russia may intensify attacks on the ports of Greater Odessa. This may further complicate logistics and increase losses for exporters.
The owner of the agricultural company Growex, Bohdan Lukiyanchuk, predicts that attacks may intensify during the harvest, when a significant part of the new crop will arrive directly at the ports.
According to him, during this period, about 30% of the new crop can be exported immediately through the port infrastructure. Attacks on ports at such a moment can knock Ukrainian grain out of global markets, which will be beneficial to Russian exporters.
Recall that Ukrainian seaports have processed 40 million tons of cargo since the beginning of the year.
