Rapeseed exports from Ukraine have fallen to a nine-year low

Rapeseed exports from Ukraine in the 2025/26 MY amounted to only 1.9 million tons – 39% less than the previous season.
Also, the results of the current marketing year showed a minimum for the last nine seasons, APK-Inform reports.
In addition, for the first time in about 20 years, the share of rapeseed exports did not exceed 59-60%, decreasing in favor of processing. According to a long-term observation period, the share of exports from the total supply by the 2025/26 season averaged 85%.
Experts call the main factors the reduction in the implementation of a 10% export duty on rapeseed, as well as a reduction in the harvest to the minimum level in four years due to adverse weather conditions.
An additional factor was the growth in rapeseed production in 2025 in the EU countries, which are a traditional market for Ukrainian products. However, despite the improvement of its own harvest, the European market remains largely dependent on imported raw materials, and demand significantly exceeds domestic supply.
The main volume of Ukrainian rapeseed exports fell to the European Union – 91% (89% in the previous MY). In physical terms, supplies of this crop to the EU decreased by 38% – to 1.73 million tons.
In terms of countries, Germany remained the leader among importers of Ukrainian rapeseed with a volume of 876 thousand tons (-12%). The top three largest buyers also include Belgium – 453 thousand tons (-50%), and the Netherlands – 247 thousand tons (-25%).
Earlier, USM reported that the government simplified the mechanism for exempting agricultural producers from export duties on soybeans and rapeseed.
