International maritime monitoring mission may begin work in Ukraine in the fall

The IMO mission is to document Russian attacks on Ukrainian ports and civilian shipping.
This was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Sybiha.
According to him, the issue of deploying the mission was discussed during the recent visit of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to London with the leadership of the International Maritime Organization.
Ukraine called on the organization to send a mission to Ukrainian ports to document Russian attacks on port infrastructure and civilian shipping.
“We hope that this mission will begin its work as planned in the fall and will help document every act of maritime terror by Russia, paving the way for bringing the perpetrators to justice,” Sybiga noted.
Earlier, Russia attacked a civilian ship near Odesa: 10 people died.
