Agrarians urged Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi to introduce anti-crisis measures to support the industry

The cessation of ship calls to Ukrainian Black Sea ports could lead to the accumulation of 27.4–32.4 million tons of agricultural products.

This was reported by the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council.

According to the association’s estimates, in the 2026/2027 marketing year, Ukraine will produce about 81.4 million tons of basic grain and oilseed crops. Together with transitional residues, the total resource of products for domestic consumption and export could reach 85 million tons.

At the same time, the country needs to export about 67 million tons of agricultural products. In the event of a prolonged shutdown of seaports, export opportunities could be reduced to 1.7 million tons per month, which would lead to a significant surplus of products on the domestic market.

The Council noted that due to the cessation of purchases by traders, prices for certain types of products have already dropped to 7 thousand UAH per ton – below the full cost of production. The association warns of the risk of loss of production, bankruptcies of agricultural enterprises and disruption of the production cycle.

Farmers propose that the government introduce preferential lending to replenish working capital before the autumn sowing season, restructure existing agricultural loans, provide state guarantees and review certain conditions of the “5–7–9%” program.

The Council also called for an audit of damage to the infrastructure of the ports of Greater Odessa and the Danube, to identify priority objects for restoration and to allocate funds for the repair and modernization of transshipment facilities.

Representatives of the association emphasized that the scale of the threat goes beyond the powers of the relevant ministry, so decisions should be made at the level of the Cabinet of Ministers. The Agrarian Council also suggested that the Prime Minister hold a personal meeting with farmers to discuss urgent support for the industry.
