Britain imposes sanctions on six more Russian vessels

The United Kingdom has expanded sanctions against Russia, focusing on energy exports, the “shadow fleet”, the financial sector and the defense industry.
The United Kingdom on August 6 introduced a new package of sanctions against Russia. This was announced by the Ukrainian presidential commissioner for sanctions policy, Vladyslav Vlasyuk.
The new package of sanctions is aimed at reducing the Kremlin’s income from energy exports, restricting the activities of the “shadow fleet”, as well as increasing pressure on the Russian financial sector and the defense-industrial complex.
In total, the British sanctions list has been expanded by 19 items: one individual and 12 legal entities, as well as six vessels.
According to Vlasyuk, five of the new sanctions targets were previously included in Ukraine’s sanctions proposals. Among them are LLC Ozon Bank, the State Specialized Russian Export-Import Bank (Eximbank of Russia) and PJSC CB Center-Invest.
A separate block of sanctions concerns the Russian military-industrial complex. The companies Metallkomplekt, Nikom, Promsiz and Technolux are subject to restrictions.
Sanctions have also been imposed against the Indian-registered company Frion Ship Management LLP. According to Vlasyuk, it facilitated the sale of the gas tanker ARCTIC EXPRESS to Russian ownership.
Earlier, the EU also imposed sanctions for the first time against a crewing company associated with the Russian shadow fleet.
