Due to the blockade of ports, Ukraine’s agricultural exports fell to 30% of potential in August

In the first half of August, Ukraine exported 794 thousand tons of agricultural products – about 30% of the potential volume.
This was reported by the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Taras Vysotskyi.
According to him, in August Ukraine can export about 1.7 million tons of agricultural products. Even with the maximum use of alternative routes without the full operation of the ports of Greater Odessa, exports will amount to only 2-2.5 million tons per month.
Currently, about 40-45% of agricultural exports pass through railway and land crossings, another 40-45% – through the Danube ports. About 7% is accounted for by motor transport.
At the same time, alternative logistics has become more expensive by at least $50 per ton, which puts pressure on purchase prices and the competitiveness of Ukrainian products.
According to the forecast, in 2026 Ukraine can produce about 80 million tons of grain and oilseeds, of which about 60 million tons, together with processed products, are potentially available for export. At the current export rate, the storage capacity deficit by November could be 8–11 million tons.
