The Federation of Metallurgists of Ukraine reported on the risks for the entire industry due to the blockade of ports

The Federation of Metallurgists of Ukraine stated that the blockade of seaports and the increase in railway tariffs threaten to stop the industry’s enterprises.
The FMU noted that after the attacks on ports since July 2026, the export of metal and ore to distant markets has become sharply more difficult. Danube ports and western crossings cannot fully replace deep-water ports due to the higher cost of logistics and restrictions on draft and throughput.
According to the federation, alternative logistics are 2-3 times more expensive.
The metallurgists also opposed the 30% increase in tariffs of Ukrzaliznytsia, stating that this further worsens the competitiveness of Ukrainian products.
The federation called on the authorities to seek the full restoration of seaports for all types of cargo, cancel the increase in railway tariffs, and temporarily reduce the tax burden on enterprises in the industry.
Separately, it is proposed, together with international partners, to introduce mechanisms for insurance of military risks for vessels and compensation for costs of alternative logistics through the EU.
Earlier, Interpipe reoriented exports through a European port due to the blockade of Ukrainian ports.
