The Romanian Foreign Ministry said that it supports the transit of Ukrainian grain

Romania supports the increase in the transit of Ukrainian grain through the Romanian port of Constanta to the countries of the Middle East and Africa.

Romanian Foreign Minister Oana Coiu stated this before the informal meeting of EU foreign ministers in Ireland, Ukrinform reports.

“We want to contribute to reducing food prices so that more people have reliable access to food. To do this, we support the transit of Ukrainian grain,” Coiu noted.

She added that the global grain price index has increased and is currently approximately 6-7% higher than the indicator for the same period last year.

The minister said that it was the logistical possibilities for increasing transit that were discussed during a recent meeting in Moldova with the participation of the country’s President Maia Sandu and the presidents of Romania and Ukraine – Nikusor Dan and Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

“The ability to deliver Ukrainian grain to the port of Constanta, and then “through solidarity routes” to the Middle East and Africa, also provides the Ukrainian economy with the stability necessary for further development,” Tsoi stressed.

She noted that directing Ukrainian grain to other continents simultaneously protects the domestic market of agricultural producers in the European Union and helps ensure affordable food for countries in the Middle East and Africa

Earlier, USM reported that Ukraine and Romania will create a joint coordination center to accelerate the movement of vessels on the Sulina.
