Ukraine’s agricultural exports decreased by over 40% in August, — UCAB

In August, the volume of exports of the main groups of agricultural products from Ukraine amounted to about 2.15 million tons – this is 41.5% less than in July (3.67 million tons).

This is the lowest monthly figure since the beginning of the year, reports the Ukrainian Agrarian Business Club (UCAB).

In total, for January-August 2026, exports amounted to 36.9 million tons. The main factor in the August decrease was the reduction in grain supplies – from 2.67 million tons in July to 988 thousand tons in August, i.e. 2.7 times.

Thus, in just one month, Ukraine under-exported about 1.68 million tons of grain compared to July. This had the greatest impact on the supplies of corn and barley:

• corn exported 305.7 thousand tons – 4.2 times less than the previous month;

• barley — 68.7 thousand tons, or 4.3 times less.

Wheat exports decreased by 73% — from 1.06 million tons to 612.7 thousand tons.

At the same time, in August there was a significant change in the structure of exports in favor of oilseeds. Their supplies increased from 88.5 thousand tons in July to 329.5 thousand tons in August, that is, almost 3.7 times. Rapeseed became the main driver: its exports increased from 19.4 thousand tons to 292.6 thousand tons.

Exports of vegetable oils also decreased in August — by 14%, to 279.3 thousand tons. Sunflower oil supplies decreased by 43.1% to 147.1 thousand tons, but rapeseed oil exports increased more than fourfold, from 23.7 thousand tons to 95.4 thousand tons. Soybean oil exports amounted to 36.6 thousand tons, 16% less than in July.

Export volumes of oilcake and other solid waste from oilseed processing remained relatively stable, at 187.2 thousand tons, which is 4% less than in July. Sunflower oilcake supplies increased by 40% to 110 thousand tons, while soybean oil supplies decreased by a third to 77.2 thousand tons.

“It is now critically important for Ukraine to ensure the sale and export of grain. Early grain crops have almost been harvested, there are still transitional stocks on the market, and active corn harvesting will begin soon. In September, the volume of sunflower harvest will also increase, which will increase the load on logistics and storage. In August, exports of grains, oilseeds, vegetable oils and oilcake amounted to about 1.78 million tons, or 83% of total agricultural exports. Before the port blockade, this share was at the level of 91-93%. In September, the export volumes of these groups may increase slightly – to 2.0-2.1 million tons, mainly due to oilseeds,” emphasized Maksym Hopka, head of the analytical department of the Ukrainian Agricultural and Food Safety Agency.

Earlier, USM reported that the State Food and Consumer Service of Ukraine is forming lists of exporters of corn and soybeans to China.
