Turkey has intensified negotiations on the Black Sea, — Turkish Foreign Ministry

Ankara has already sent its proposals to the Ukrainian and Russian sides, received responses and is working on their coordination.

Turkey has intensified diplomatic efforts to reach an agreement on the situation in the Black Sea. This was stated by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, writes Ukrinform.

“Our work is currently ongoing, in which special attention is paid to the Black Sea. We are negotiating with the parties on this issue, we have proposals. We have received the parties’ responses and are working on their coordination,” Fidan said.

According to him, a compromise is possible if the parties have the political will. The minister expressed hope that the current initiatives will be completed.

Separately, Fidan emphasized the increase in the number of attacks on civilian vessels. He recalled that Turkey has been trying to prevent the spread of hostilities to the Black Sea since the beginning of the war. To this end, Ankara has been steadfastly implementing the Montreux Convention and implementing the Black Sea Grain Initiative.

“The war over the past year has actually turned from a war of attrition to a war of destruction. Now there are practically no objects left that are not targets… We see that the number of victims among the civilian population is also increasing,” he said.

Further escalation, in his opinion, must be stopped. The Turkish Foreign Minister also warned of the risk of the war spreading to other European countries.

Earlier, USM reported that Turkey wants to return to the “grain corridor” format in the Black Sea.
