Ukraine and Moldova will save the Dnister together

The countries agreed on joint actions to improve the ecological state of the Dnister River.

A meeting of the Commission on Sustainable Use and Protection of the Dnister River was carried out in Chisinau. During the event, Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova agreed on joint actions to achieve a “good” ecological state of the Dnister River.

Dnister is the largest river in the territory of Moldova and Western Ukraine. It is the main source of water in Moldova. Every day, about 27 million cubic meters of Dnister water are required to provide nearly 8 million residents, including those of Odesa and Chisinau. But experts say that this water may be unsuitable for drinking, since the Soroca regional center in the north of Moldova pours more than 2.5 thousand tons of waste into the river every day without preliminary purification.
