Ukraine took 4th place in the world for the export of barley
Ukraine entered the TOP-5 world exporters of barley in the 2020 calendar year, despite the fact that it was difficult for the agricultural sector. This year Ukraine will definitely set its new record.
In monetary terms, Ukraine exported $877 million worth of barley in 2020, according to the Agrarian Portfolio of Ukraine from the Ministry of Economy and Ministry of Agrarian Policy.
The first place in the rating is occupied by the European Union, with the volume of barley exports worth $1.5 billion. The second place is taken by the Russian Federation ($937 million), and the third is by Australia ($910 million).
Ukraine outstripped Canada in shipments, which exported $602 million worth of barley.
According to Stark Shipping, for the entire 2020 Ukraine exported 5.02 million tons of barley by sea. Most of this culture was shipped from the ports of Mykolaiv (1.6 million tons), Pivdennyi (1.5 million tons) and Chornomorsk (943 thousand tons).
More than half of the barley was sent to China – 2.6 million tons. The second largest importer of Ukrainian grain was Saudi Arabia – 773 thousand tons.
This year, as of December 6th, Ukraine exported 5.43 million tons of barley by sea (including line-up).
Most of the cargo was shipped from the ports of Mykolaiv (1.7 million tons), Pivdennyi (1.4 million tons) and Chornomorsk (1 million tons) – this is about 80% of the total volume of sea barley shipments.
Half of the shipments of barley are in China – 2.86 million tons. Turkey is in second place in the import of Ukrainian barley by sea this year – 785 thousand tons.
