MSC vessels with Ukrainian sailors will ignore Russian ports
The Maritime Administration and the MTWTU urged MSC to prevent vessel calls to Russian ports if there are Ukrainians among the crew.
The other day Ukrainian authorities received a message from the crew of the MSC Edith – the sailors wanted to disembark in the nearest port, in the city of Ashdod (Israel), in order to avoid calling at the port of Novorossiysk. This was reported by the press service of the Maritime Administration.
The crew, consisting of 21 Ukrainians, was able to explain to the shipowner the danger of vessel calls to the ports of the Russian Federation, and disembark in a safe port.
In the meantime, the Maritime Administration has launched a “hot line” to help Ukrainian sailors on issues of avoiding vessel calls to the ports of the Russian Federation and repatriation:

Earlier, USM reported that Ukrainian sailor Vadym Ignashev was kidnapped from the containership MSC Riccarda II in Vladivostok. The FSB of the Russian Federation took him away in an unknown direction.
