The new checkpoint on the border with Romania will be operational in October

The new checkpoint in Krasnoilsk, Chernivtsi region, on the border with Romania, will start working in October.

“In two and a half months, despite a large deficit in financial resources, it was possible to continue the construction project in Krasnoilsk,” Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Mustafa Nayem noted, writes CTS.

According to Nayem, the checkpoint itself is almost ready. Small engineering works and the adjustment of communication remained. Also, on Ukrainian side, the construction of a high-quality access road is being completed.

“The main thing that we managed to do during this time is to convince our Romanian colleagues that instead of a small car, a full-fledged cargo checkpoint should work here,” he added.

The checkpoint is planned to be launched in two stages. At the first, already in October, vehicles weighing up to 7.5 tons and empty trucks will be allowed to pass through Krasnoilsk. And this will partially relieve the load from the only cargo checkpoint – “Parubne-Siret”.

On the second one, after the installation of the necessary equipment and the completion of works on the Romanian side, the checkpoint will operate as a full-fledged freight crossing in accordance with the agreements.
