Russian troops attacked the Starokozache checkpoint on the border with Moldova: there are casualties

On the night of September 9, Russian drones attacked the international automobile checkpoint “Starokozache” on the border with Moldova.

According to preliminary data, two civilians were killed and three more were injured as a result of the attack. Rescuers evacuated 16 people to a safe distance.

This is another attack by Russia on the border infrastructure of the south of the Odesa region in recent weeks. Since August 20, Russian troops have been attacking the checkpoints “Tabaky”, “Vynohradivka” and “Reni – Giurgiulesti” on the border with Moldova. The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine stated that the purpose of such attacks is to disrupt the operation of transport and border infrastructure and complicate international communication.
On August 21, the Tabaki checkpoint was temporarily closed after a drone attack. The strike damaged buildings and structures, and caused fires. The checkpoint was reopened the next day.
Russia also attacked the Orlivka ferry checkpoint on the border with Romania twice in a few days. After the September 1 strike, its operations were suspended due to damage and fire, and on September 6, the checkpoint was temporarily closed again after another attack on border infrastructure.
