Ukrainian sailors were among the crew of the Blue Lagoon cargo ship, which ran aground during a typhoon.

On Tuesday, October 1, Taiwanese authorities involved several helicopters to rescue the entire crew of the Barbados-flagged Blue Lagoon dry cargo ship, writes Splash 24/7

The ship ran aground during a super typhoon off the east coast of Taiwan.

The bulk carrier was loaded with 67,500 tons of ore, 39 tons of marine oil and 227 tons of fuel oil.

“The ship took on water, the engine room flooded, and at that moment the crew evacuated. The crew consisted of nine Egyptians, seven Ukrainians and three Russians,” the message reads.
