The Russians launched the ice-class patrol ship “Nikolai Zubov”.
The Russian enterprise “Admiralty Shipyards”, which is part of the sanctioned USC, launched the patrol ship “Nikolai Zubov” on December 25. This is reported by “Militarnyi”.
This is the second and last ship of the project 23550, ordered by the Russian Ministry of Defense. The first ship of the series, “Ivan Papanin”, was launched in October 2019, and its factory sea trials did not begin until June 2024.
The construction of the ship “Nikolai Zubov” was planned for the spring of 2018, but began only in November 2019. Now the Russians hope to complete the ship’s trials by the beginning of 2026.
The ships of the project 23550, also known under the code name “Arktika”, are multi-purpose patrol ships of the Arctic category Arc7. They are designed to operate in the harsh conditions of the north. The series also includes ships of the code name “Ermak”, which are being built for the FSB of the aggressor country.
The displacement of the ships of the code name “Arktika” is about 9,000 tons. The length is 114.5 meters, and the width is 19.5 meters. The draft of the “Nikolay Zubin” will be about 6 meters. The maximum speed of the ship is 18 knots. The crew will be about 60 people.
The armament of the patrol ship of the aggressor country will probably consist of a 76-mm AK-176MA artillery mount, 12.7-mm machine guns and launchers of portable anti-aircraft missile systems.
The ship can also accommodate Ka-27 helicopters, Raptor speedboats, and the Manul hovercraft.
Earlier, USM reported that Russia had launched a new tanker to support the Navy.
