A port worker in Odesa was sentenced for reposting on a Russian social network


An employee of the Pivdennyi port in the Odesa region was convicted for spreading prohibited Soviet symbols.

A man reposted the forbidden symbols of the communist regime in the Russian social network Odnoklassniki, reports Vgorode with reference to court documents.

The accused worked in the port as a leading engineer of the labor protection service. On his page, from 2016 to 2023, he distributed prohibited symbols, including the hammer and sickle.

The man’s actions violate the Law of Ukraine “On Condemnation of Communist and National Socialist (Nazi) Totalitarian Regimes.”

Also during this period, he circulated quotes from Soviet leaders, including Joseph Stalin. The court found the man guilty and sentenced him to three years of imprisonment with a suspended term, in accordance with Articles 75 and 76 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
