About 100 million dollars were invested in the Danube ports
During 11 months of 2023, more than 31 million tons of cargo were handled in the ports of the Danube cluster, which is an absolute record.
Total investments in the infrastructure of the Danube ports already reach about 100 million dollars. In particular, thanks to private financing, 23 new cargo transshipment terminals were opened. This was announced by the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal.
Thus, as of the beginning of December, more than 31 million tons of cargo were handled in the ports of Izmail, Reni, and Ust-Dunaisk since the beginning of 2023.
At the same time, this year, Ukraine and Romania finally resolved a 20-year-old conflict regarding the fulfillment of the requirements of the ESPO Convention during the construction of the Danube-Black Sea canal.
“We systematically approached this issue, fulfilled our European integration obligations and unblocked the development of the infrastructure of the Danube area – both for Romania and Ukraine,” said Denys Shmyhal.
The Prime Minister also emphasized that 10 million tons of goods were exported from the ports of Great Odesa through the new Ukrainian corridor. The ports have received more than 330 vessels for loading, and about 80 more are preparing to receive them soon.
