Albania will help Ukraine fight the Russian shadow fleet

The prime ministers of Ukraine and Albania discussed sanctions pressure on Russia, defense cooperation, and countering the Kremlin’s illegal schemes at sea.

Ukraine and Albania are coordinating efforts to combat the Russian “shadow fleet.” This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal after a meeting with Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, Ukrinform reports.

The prime minister also thanked Albania for its support in training the Ukrainian military and stressed the importance of expanding this program in accordance with the long-term cooperation agreement signed in January.

In addition, the parties discussed the issue of holding Russia accountable for aggression.

“We appreciate Albania’s support for initiatives in favor of Ukraine, as well as its promotion of our future membership in the EU and NATO. Thank you for all the help after Russia’s full-scale invasion,” he added.

The Polish Foreign Minister also recently reported that the EU is preparing sanctions against the captains of the Russian “shadow fleet.”
