An explosion occurred in a port in Romania: previously, it was a naval drone (video)

An explosion occurred in the Romanian port of Constanta. It was previously thought to be a naval drone. Law enforcement officers were dispatched to the scene.

According to investigators, it was an unmanned floating object — most likely a naval drone, Euronews Romania reports.

Law enforcement authorities ordered the evacuation of the area near the drone’s location. Investigators told reporters that the device likely contained a large explosive charge.

The explosion occurred near pier 78. The drone was programmed to explode. The pyrotechnic team noticed that the device had a timer. This is the first time Romania has encountered such situations, sources among investigators told Euronews Romania.

Officials also commented that the object is not part of the Romanian army’s armament and did not participate in recent exercises organized by the Ministry of National Defense in the Black Sea.
