Drones attacked three ships in two days in Romanian waters

On the night of October 14 and 15, drones attacked three vessels in Romanian territorial waters.
This was reported by Profinsure (Marine Insurance Brokers) CEO Victor Borovy on LinkedIn.
The first vessel was the YARA J (IMO 9221803) under the flag of the Comoros. The Romanian rescue service ARSVOM identified the vessel in a distress signal received at 20:25. The second tanker was the WINE TRADER (IMO 8808707) under the flag of San Marino.
Later on October 15, another attack occurred. A drone hit the port side of the dry cargo ship LADY JASMIN (IMO 9106974) under the flag of Panama.
Borovy called the attacks in Romanian territorial waters a significant escalation of the situation in the Black Sea and noted that these are the first such incidents in the area.
According to him, underwriters have already increased insurance premiums for war risks in the Black Sea, and some companies have completely stopped offering coverage for the region.
In addition, the London office of Profinsure reported that one of the large underwriters has withdrawn all previously provided quotes for the Black Sea and has stopped offering conditions for new requests.
At the same time, demand for insurance has increased sharply. While there were almost no requests for war risk coverage in the Black Sea before, their number has increased significantly over the past few days.
According to Borovoy, many shipowners are already facing difficulties in obtaining war risk coverage for their fleets.
At the same time, Profinsure continues to organize such insurance for the Black Sea and Ukrainian ports, as well as for the Red Sea and the Strait of Hormuz.
Earlier, USM reported that after the attacks on ships near Bulgaria, requests for war risk insurance for Ukrainian ports increased.
