Ecuadorian cocaine in the port of Pivdennyi: smugglers will be tried
The prosecutor’s office has completed a pre-trial investigation into drug smuggling in the Odesa region through the seaport.
The investigation found that three members of an international criminal group, citizens of Albania, Romania and Ukraine, organized the import of drugs from Ecuador to Western European countries, including Ukraine.
The plotters transported contraband through the container terminal of one of the port operators in the port of Pivdennyi.
In August this year, law enforcement officers found 100 briquettes of cocaine in two refrigerated containers with a load of bananas.
The total amount of the seized goods is 80 kg. The cost of the drug on the black market reaches $20 million.
At the request of the prosecutor’s office, the accused were taken into custody as a preventive measure, without determining the amount of bail.
