First in 5 years exercises on rescue from damaged ship took place in Ukraine


In the Prakticheskaya Harbor of Odesa, a demonstration naval combat training of the Naval Forces on leaving the damaged ship took place.

The training took place under the guidance of officers of the training command of the Ukrainian Navy Command. The overhead personnel of the divisions and ships was involved in the exercises.

The training consisted of a theoretical part and a practical one, with a demonstration of the use of rescue equipment. A liferaft was dropped from the “damaged” ship into the water and the evacuation of personnel was practiced.

This is the first such exercise since 2014 with the actual use of life-saving appliances.

As the commander of the “damaged” ship said, earlier on the ships were regularly conducted exercises to leave the damaged ship, but only theoretical. According to him, out of about 30 gathered naval seafarers previously saw the practical use of the raft in action, only two.
