France calls for moratorium on shelling of ships in the Black Sea

The French Foreign Ministry condemned Russian attacks on merchant ships near Bulgaria and Romania and called for a moratorium on shelling in the Black Sea.
This was stated in a statement by the French Foreign Ministry.
“France condemns in the strongest terms the unacceptable drone attacks on merchant ships that have taken place in recent days in the Black Sea off the coast of Bulgaria and Romania,” the ministry said.
In particular, it called these attacks “a new irresponsible escalation” and “a flagrant violation of international law.”
“The intensification of attacks on civilian shipping and merchant ships in the Black Sea, which continues to cause human casualties, is unacceptable. It demonstrates once again that Russia’s aggressive war against Ukraine poses a threat to the security of the European Union and NATO as a whole,” the statement said.
France also reiterated its call for a moratorium on strikes in the Black Sea and expressed full solidarity with Romania and Bulgaria. The Foreign Ministry noted that the security of the countries must remain a priority.
Recall that on the night of October 13, drones attacked two vessels off the Black Sea coast of Bulgaria. The Chelsea 3, a Ukrainian-owned vessel flying the Maltese flag, was hit by three drones. The HS Dignity sank, five of the 16 sailors on board were rescued
