Ukraine and Turkey discussed the security of agricultural exports through the Black Sea

In particular, the countries have intensified the dialogue on the security of agricultural exports, and also raised the issue of global food security.

This was discussed during the meeting of the Minister of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine Taras Vysotsky with the Ambassador of Turkey to Ukraine Fatma Ceren Yazgan.

The Ministry of Agriculture emphasized that due to the restrictions on the work of Black Sea ports, the export of about 32 million tons of Ukrainian agricultural products with an estimated value of $ 10 billion was at risk. Today, Ukraine uses alternative routes – the Danube, railways and road transport, but they cannot completely replace sea transportation.

“Farmers must understand that they will be able to sell their grown products. This is a matter of the sustainability of the Ukrainian agricultural sector, rural areas and at the same time global food security,” Taras Vysotskyi emphasized.

Turkey stated that it is ready to contribute to the search for practical solutions and raise the issue of Ukrainian agricultural exports in a dialogue with international partners.

In turn, Ukraine is interested in forming a predictable export mechanism that will allow farmers to plan production, prepare for the sowing season, and ensure the stability of the agricultural sector.

It should be noted that the parties also discussed cooperation in the field of irrigation, attracting Turkish experience and business to relevant projects in Ukraine.
