Freight rates on the Danube have increased
At the same time, the cost of grain transportation from the deep-sea ports of Great Odesa continues to decrease.
Rates for the transportation of grain from the Danube ports have increased slightly over the past week. In turn, freight rates for “handy sizes” from the ports of Great Odesa continued to decrease. “Panamax” freight rates remained unchanged, UGA reported with reference to Atria Brokers.
The increase in freight rates is caused by an increase in demand. So, as of December 7, the rates for the delivery of 6,000 tons of corn by “coasters” from the ports of Reni and Izmail reach:
• to Marmara — 29 USD/t;
• to the eastern coast of Greece — 32-34 USD/t;
• to the Eastern Mediterranean — 38-40 USD/t;
• to the east coast of Italy — up to 41-43 USD/t;
• in the direction of Spain — 46-48 USD/t;
• to Spanish Seville — 48-50 USD/t.
Rates in the direction of Israel remained unchanged at the level of 43-46 USD/t.
The freight for the transportation of corn in “handy sizes” from the ports of Greater Odessa in all main directions decreased by 2 USD/t and amounted to 37-38 USD/t in the direction of the Mediterranean coast of Egypt, 39-40 USD/t to Italy, 41-42 USD/t — the Mediterranean coast of Spain, 42-43 USD/t — Tunisia.
At the same time, the freight for the transportation of corn by “Panamax” remained unchanged: to China — 75-78 USD/t, to the Mediterranean coast of Spain — 45-47 USD/t.
Rates for the transportation of corn by barge to Constanta also remained at the level of the previous week — 21-22 EUR/t.
