Grain transport by rail across the western borders has increased

In August, the number of wagons with grain cargo transported by rail through the western border crossings increased.
This was discussed during an online meeting of representatives of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia with agricultural market participants on August 27, RAIL.insider reports.
According to Valery Tkachev, Deputy Director of the Department of Transportation Technology and Commercial Work of the company, the total number of wagons with grain that pass through the western border crossings daily has increased to 173.7 units.
The most significant increase in the indicator is recorded on the border of Ukraine with Romania. Currently, 41.6 wagons with grain are transferred through these junctions per day. For comparison, in July the volume was only 1.9 units per day.
On average, 47 wagons with grain pass through the Ukrainian-Polish border crossings per day — this is 33.4 units per day more than in July.
The volume of grain transfers by rail to Slovakia increased by 23.5 wagons per day — to 40.4 units.
The average daily volume of grain transfers through Ukrainian-Hungarian border crossings is 44.7 wagons — 5.8 units more than in July.
Earlier, USM reported that grain exports by rail in August decreased by 67%.
