International consulting companies will help in the development of the UDS fleet

International consulting companies Royal HaskoningDHV and Baker McKenzie have joined the UDS fleet modernization project.

A team of consultants should develop a long-term strategy for the development of steam shipping, said Dmytro Moskalenko, director of UDS.

He noted that earlier, UDS specialists together with Austrian ÖSWAG worked out in detail the project of modernization of the first batch of self-propelled vessels, and substantiated the technical level of modernization.

“After running the pilot project, we plan to involve other European shipyards in the modernization in the next stages,” Dmytro Moskalenko noted.

The head added that there was a long discussion regarding the long-term prospects of steam shipping.

“We are creating additional incentives for shipowners, the influx of specialists to the company has only increased recently — ships are leaving repair with already formed crews. Undoubtedly, military risks may take their toll, but the company will continue to be profitable in any scenario. Strategically, our course will not change,” said Moskalenko.
