Large amphibious ships “Yamal” and “Azov” were hit in Crimea


The defense forces of Ukraine hit the Russian Large Landing Crafts “Yamal” and “Azov”.

Also in Crimea, the communications center and several infrastructure facilities of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation in the temporarily occupied Sevastopol were hit, reports the Strategic Communications Department of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“Yamal” is a large amphibious ship of project 775. It was commissioned in 1988. The ships of this project are the basis of the Russian amphibious fleet and are designed to land amphibious assaults on unequipped coasts and transfer troops and cargo by sea.

“Azov” is also a large amphibious ship of the 775M project, entered the fleet in 1990. It is part of the 197th brigade of amphibious ships of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation.
