Lukoil is trying to buy the right to produce oil in Bulgaria
One of Russia’s largest oil companies, Lukoil, is ready to pay more taxes to Bulgaria in order not to lose exports of energy raw materials.
The management of the oil refinery “Lukoil” in Burgas (Bulgaria) promised the Bulgarian government to pay twice as much taxes in order to preserve the oil market. This is reported by “European Truth”.
Thus, thanks to the threat of cancellation of oil imports from the Russian Federation, Lukoil promised to pay taxes in the amount of more than 250 million euros. By this time, the government expected that Lukoil would contribute 135 million euros in taxes to the state budget.
Instead, Bulgaria’s two most influential parliamentary parties, GERB and DPS, insist that the Russian company pay at least 750 million euros in taxes.
Earlier, Bulgaria announced a ban on the import of crude oil from the Russian Federation by sea. At the same time, “Lukoil” began the procedure of selling the oil refinery in Burgas. Meanwhile, the parliament obliged the refinery to prepare for the processing of non-Russian oil from the fall of 2024.
As a reminder, since September 4, Bulgaria nationalized the Rosenets oil terminal. Previously, the port infrastructure belonged to the Russian company Lukoil.
