“Nibulon” offers to reduce railway tariffs for transportation to the Danube ports
The company “Nibulon” proposes that “Ukrzaliznytsia” ensure competitive conditions for the delivery of agricultural products to the Danube ports.
This was stated by Mykhailo Rizak, director of interaction with authorities and legal affairs of Nibulon, in a comment to the Elevatorist publication.
According to him, the “Bessarabian” branch played an important role for Ukrainian exports as a whole, when the deep-sea ports of Odesa region were not working. However, this way of export is currently inferior in terms of marginality to the deep-sea ports of Odesa region.
“Today, Bessarabia is $10 more expensive in terms of railways. And it is more expensive in terms of delivery by motor vehicle compared to deep-sea ports, because it is an additional 250 km of highways and an additional 200 km of railway, which creates an imbalance in competition, makes logistics more expensive,” explained Mykhailo Rizak.
He also noted that the company is appealing to the Ministry of Infrastructure and International Associations with a request to level this situation, in particular, that “Ukrzaliznytsia” ensure competitive conditions for the delivery of agricultural products to the Danube ports compared to the deep-sea ports of the Black Sea region.
As previously reported by USM, last year the ports on the Danube set a record for cargo turnover – more than 29 million tons.
