“Nibulon” transports grain to ports thanks to USAID wagons
Thanks to the help of USAID, “Nibulon” purchased 50 modern hopper cars that transport grain from blocked river ports to Danube ports.
The information was shared by Mykhailo Rizak, director of interaction with authorities of Nibulon, writes Rail.insider.
“Carrying grain by car is very expensive. We can load 20 tons of grain into one truck. At the same time, up to 70 tons per wagon. Since we received 50 wagons, we formed a train from them. If we continued to transport grain by truck, the costs to the company would be higher, which would affect the purchase price we offer to farmers, or we would have to close the terminals. Therefore, in the conditions of war and attempts by the Russian Federation to block the operation of ports, this is a significant help for us as agricultural exporters,” said Rizak.
Since August, when the company received the first hopper cars, they have transported almost 30,000 tons of Ukrainian grain.
“In this way, a train of 50 wagons has traveled 10 times along different routes, delivering grain from river ports to sea ports, covering a distance of 15,000 km,” the post emphasizes.
With the new grain trucks from the USAID project, the “Nibulon” wagon fleet totals 212 units. Thus, the volume of the company’s fleet increased by almost 25%.
