Port of Constanta increases rapeseed transshipment amid problems with Ukrainian supplies

The Port of Constanta is strengthening its role as a regional hub for rapeseed and oilseeds amid a high harvest in Romania and supply problems from other parts of the Black Sea region.

This is reported by the Romanian publication Replica Online.

The volume of rapeseed supplies through Constanta has increased, and demand for Romanian products has increased after Turkey returned to the market. Previously, Turkish buyers were largely focused on Ukrainian rapeseed.

The publication notes that Constanta’s favorable location and port infrastructure allow for a quick reorientation of trade flows between the countries of the Black Sea and Danube regions and external markets.

Some of the new routes may be preserved even after the normalization of Ukrainian exports, if traders and processors form stable supply chains with Romanian producers.

At the same time, the prospects for the 2027 harvest remain uncertain due to a lack of moisture in the soil. If the drought continues, it could complicate the autumn sowing of rapeseed and limit future supply in the region.
