Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey plan to mine the Black Sea in July
The Black Sea Mine Action Task Force plans to start work in July this year.
As a reminder, the group was formed by three countries — Romania, Bulgaria, and Turkey — and aims to clear the Black Sea of mines that got there as a result of the Russian Federation’s full-scale attack on Ukraine.
The start of the activity was discussed at a press briefing at the Ministry of Defense of Turkey, writes Ukrinform.
“The first activation of the Black Sea Mine Action Task Force (MCM BLACK SEA) is planned to be carried out in July after the meeting of the commanders of the naval forces, which will take place in June,” the country’s Ministry of Defense reported.
In Turkey, the tripartite document was also recorded by the decree of the country’s president dated April 4, 2024.
USM previously reported that Belgium will hand over ships to Ukraine for demining the Black Sea.
