Russia is forced to deliver supplies for the base in Syria by bypassing Europe, the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
Russia is forced to supply its military base in Syria with supplies, using a long sea route bypassing all of Europe.
Dmytro Pletenchuk, the spokesman for the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, stated this on the air of the telethon, Ukrinform reports.
According to him, Russian forces can no longer use the usual route through the Bosphorus, and the so-called “Syrian Express” is now unavailable to them. Currently, delivery is provided by sea, bypassing Europe, which significantly lengthens the way to the Syrian port of Tartus.
Pletenchuk noted that Russian forces are facing technical difficulties, and activity in the Mediterranean remains limited. The spokesman also emphasized that not a single unit of the ship’s crew was observed guarding the base points, which is an unusual situation. However, despite logistical obstacles, the Russian group in Syria continues to function.
USM previously reported that Russia is increasing the shipment of weapons to a naval base in Syria. Twice as many Russian ships pass through the Strait of Gibraltar. Thus, weapons and military equipment are transported to the naval base in western Syria.
