Shipyards “Ukrsudprom” were left without orders

In 2021, there is not a single customer for the construction of vessels at the Ukrainian shipyards, which are members of the Ukrsudprom Association.

This was stated by the executive director of Ukrsudprom Serhii Lysenko during the round table of the Rivers of Ukraine Association.

“In 2020, our customers were the Ministry of Defense, the AgroVista agricultural holding company, the Grain Transhipment shipping company and foreign companies – two barges for the Dutch at the Ocean plant and two tanker hulls at Smart Maritime,” he recalled.

According to Serhii Lysenko, due to the current lack of orders in shipbuilding and ship repair, there is a reduction in jobs. Also, the situation was affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. But, despite this, there are improvements in the work of the industry.

“In 2020, 18 vessels were built, which is the highest figure since 2013. The Ocean plant resumed its work, in 2020 it began the construction of non-self-propelled vessels. In 2019, Nibulon built a 140-meter vessel, which is the largest vessel built in the last 20 years,” stressed Sergei Lysenko.

In addition, the enterprises “Dunaisudoservice” and “Dunaisudnoremont” began to build non-self-propelled vessels in 2019 and built a barge with a length of 128 meters in 2020. In 2020, 34 new vessels with a total deadweight of 195.6 thousand tons were built and put into operation according to the projects of the Marine Engineering Bureau.
