Spain became the largest buyer of Ukrainian sunflower oil

Spain increased purchases by 132.8 thousand tons in April-May alone, which allowed it to take first place, ahead of India.

Spain became the largest buyer of Ukrainian sunflower oil in the 2025/26 season, ahead of India, which led the rating a few months ago. This is reported by Latifundist.

According to the results of 11 months of the marketing year, Ukraine exported 578.5 thousand tons of sunflower oil to Spain – 14.5% of the total volume of supplies. India took second place with an indicator of 571.5 thousand tons and a share of 14.3%. At the end of March, the situation was the opposite: India was in the lead with 484.4 thousand tons, Spain was second with 445.7 thousand tons.

The three leaders are closed by the Netherlands (460.2 thousand tons). Also in the top five are Italy (407.9 thousand tons) and France (233 thousand tons).

In general, the EU countries remain the key sales market. Over the 11 months of the season, they accounted for 51% of exports, or 2.04 million tons. The share of the Asian direction was 37.6% – 1.5 million tons, the African direction – 7.8%.

As USM wrote, the Government recently approved the Export Strategy until 2030.
