Spill in the port of Chornomorsk: details

Today there is information about the vessel, which was detained by coastguards due to a spill in the water area of the port of Chornomorsk.
A vessel flying the flag of Barbados, which came from Bulgaria loaded with grain, was detained, reported on the Facebook page of the State Border Service.
Shota Khadzhishvili, co-founder of Risoil stevedore, told USM, that the vessel Valentina, which is flying the Barbados flag, arrived in Chornomorsk with a cargo of fertilizers without ballast.
The detained vessel is bulk carrier Dione. She is flying the Barbados flag and was built in 2011. Deadweight – 28,253 tons. The vessel departed from Chornomorsk with a cargo of grain from the Transbulk terminal on board.
According to MarineTraffic, the bulk carrier is currently off the coast of Turkey. As USM found out, the vessel’s agents paid a pollution penalty of about UAH 150,000 (USD 5,5 thousand).
