The EU may adopt the 20th package of sanctions against Russia in February: what is known

In the new sanctions package, Finland and Sweden called for a ban on the export of luxury goods to Russia and the servicing of Russian oil tankers.

The EU may adopt the 20th package of sanctions against Russia by the anniversary of the full-scale war on February 24, writes Euractiv, citing an unnamed diplomat.

As part of the new sanctions package, Finland and Sweden called on the European Commission to ban the export of luxury goods to Russia and the servicing of Russian oil tankers, as well as reduce EU quotas for the import of Russian fertilizers.

Earlier, during the annual security conference in the city of Selen on January 12, Swedish Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard emphasized that the new package of restrictions should include a complete ban on EU companies from providing services to ships carrying Russian oil, gas and coal.

Among Sweden’s demands are a ban on any transportation and transshipment of cargo between ships, insurance of ships and cargo, as well as repair work in European ports.

As previously reported by USM, the UK plans to stop tankers of the “shadow fleet“.
