The first tanker with Russian diesel left for the US after the agreement between Putin and Trump

A tanker carrying 40,000 tons of Russian diesel fuel has set off for New York after an agreement between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
This was reported by Reuters, citing LSEG data.
The medium-tonnage tanker Agioi Fanendes, flying the Maltese flag, loaded 40,000 tons of ultra-low-sulfur diesel fuel in the Russian Baltic port of Primorsk on October 22.
The vessel is expected to arrive in the United States on November 7.
Russia agreed to partially lift its own ban on diesel exports and increase its supplies to world markets, including the United States, after an agreement between Putin and Trump.
On October 9, Trump said that Russia should promptly export 300,000 tons, or about 2.25 million barrels of diesel. Another 500,000 tons are planned to be delivered in November, and then another 1 million tons.
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said last week that by the end of the year Russia could increase diesel exports to the country’s usual level of 3-3.5 million tons per month.
Other export shipments of diesel were also loaded in Primorsk last week, but their final destinations are still unknown. According to LSEG, most of the ships indicate Gibraltar, the Atlantic coast or Port Said.
After the EU’s full embargo on Russian oil imports came into force in February 2023, the main buyers of Russian diesel were Brazil and Turkey, as well as a number of African countries.
