The former commander of a corvette of the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is suspected of treason
The SBI informed the ex-commander of the “Lutsk” corvette in absentia about the suspicion of treason.
In 2014, after the russian occupation of Crimea, the former commander of the “Lutsk” anti-submarine corvette joined the invaders.
“The captain of the third rank voluntarily swore allegiance to the aggressor after his unit was captured by the russian armed forces in Sevastopol. Today, he commands the russian anti-submarine ship “Suzdalets”, which is participating in the russian armed aggression against Ukraine,” the State Bureau of Investigation reports.
The former soldier was informed in absentia of suspicion of treason (part 1 of article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). He faces up to 15 years in prison.
