The number of victims of the Russian attack on the tanker Gas Lisbon has increased

One of the crew members of the gas tanker Gas Lisbon, which was attacked by Russia off the coast of Romania, died in hospital from his injuries.

One of the three sailors hospitalized after the attack on the gas tanker Gas Lisbon has died in a hospital in Tulcea County, Romania Journal reports.

According to the director of the medical facility, Tudor-Ion Nestasescu, the sailor suffered an inhalation injury during a fire on board the vessel. He later developed a severe pulmonary complication, which was the cause of his death.

Two other crew members, citizens of the Philippines, remain in intensive care. Doctors assess their condition as stable and note that there is currently no threat to their lives.

The gas tanker Gas Lisbon was heading from Alexandria, Egypt, to the Ukrainian port of Reni. The vessel was carrying nearly 3.8 thousand tons of propane and was approximately 20 nautical miles from the Sfintu Gheorghe Strait in the Romanian exclusive economic zone when it was hit.

According to crew members, three drones exploded on board.

Following the incident, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiha called on the international community to increase sanctions pressure on Russia, stressing that attacks on civilian vessels pose a threat to the safety of international shipping.

Russia also recently attacked the bulk carrier Golden Leo, killing four crew members.
