The state must support the Danube portion, “Nibulon”

It is necessary to economically support the Danube cluster so that it serves as a competitive alternative to the Black Sea.

The state should take care of the competitive status of the routes through the Danube ports with the deep-water ports of Great Odesa. This opinion was expressed by the representative of “Nibulon” Mykhailo Rizak.

“On May 12, 2022, the European Commission adopted a resolution on the development of the “Paths of Solidarity” as an alternative to the Black Sea. We are convinced that the Danube has already proven itself as a path that ensures the country’s economic security and needs systemic support,” said Rizak.

One of the first steps in this direction may be the inclusion of Izmail in the list of stations that receive a 30% discount for export transportation of agricultural products.

Nibulon is also interested in the evacuation of more than 100 units of civilian vessels from Mykolaiv for work on the Danube River.

At the same time, support from the Romanian government is also important for the development of the Danube region.

“If Romania is interested in receiving and processing the cargo flow of Ukraine in the port of Constanţa, it should also take measures to ensure the competitive status of the port with the deep-sea ports of Odesa,” the representative of “Nibulon” emphasized.

We are talking, in particular, about the cancellation of the channel fee for vessels from the Danube ports of Ukraine. Also, Romania can abolish the pilotage fee — thanks to the introduction of the practice of pilotless passage by qualified shipmasters.

Previously, USM wrote that the first UDS grain caravan was loaded at the Nibulon terminal in Izmail.
